I am excited to announce that I will soon be selling my designs on Etsy for laser and cutting machines.
It has been a while since I have shared a post, but I have been quite busy on the creative front. To my pleasant surprise, I discovered an app on the Ipad Pro for vector drawing called Affinity Designer. (if you are interested in finding out more, visit their website). Vector drawing is fantastic as you can scale the image without it pixelating, as pixels are not used (or are optional in Affinity Designer).
A few years ago I learned the basics of Inkscape on my PC using a Wacom drawing tablet, but I don’t enjoy sitting at the computer for hours so finally purchased an Ipad Pro and did non-vector art using Procreate. I love drawing on the Ipad as it is more like traditional sketching and I can draw anywhere. However, as I like to put my designs on products, it can be frustrating if you do not size your image correctly to begin with.
Fortunately Affinity Designer is similar to Inkscape to use, but easier on the Ipad, but it has taken me a while to re-learn. I am now in the process of going through my colouring designs to see which ones can be adapted to create SVG cutting designs that can be used with laser and craft cutting machines (such as Cricut, Sillouette and Brother’s Scan and cut).
When I have finished a few more designs, I will re-boot my Etsy store. My dad has a laser cutting machine, so he is looking forward to receiving some free Celtic Knot designs from me!
Here are the first few designs I have completed. Many more to come in the future. I am so excited to see what crafters may make from my files in the future.
Blue Wren with Celtic Knot Border. This would be cut in layers. The first layer is a backing circle, on top of that would be glued the white centre and dark brown outer ring and on top the cutout for the Celtic knot design and the bird sections. Suitable for laser cutters, Cricut, Sillouette, and Brother cutting machines. Tested on Design Space software (Cricut).
Peacock cutout design. This would be made with two layers. The blue layer is on the bottom, on on top of that is the peacock cutout design. Suitable for laser cutting machines and craft machines – Cricut, Sillouette and Brother Scan and Cut. Tested on Design Space (Cricut).
Koala cutout design. This would be made with two or three layers. The green grey and brown are glued behind the cutout design layer. Suitable for laser cutting machines and craft machines – Cricut, Sillouette and Brother Scan and Cut. Tested on Design Space (Cricut).
