It has been a while since I have written a post but I have still been busy creating. I have been thinking of new ways to use my designs and came up with embroidery! I thought my mandala and Celtic knot designs would work well as placemats and coasters, so I thought I would have a go at learning embroidery.
So off to YouTube to learn basic embroidery techniques and stitches. Thankfully there are some fantastic Chanels to learn embroidery. For my first piece I decided to use one of my favourite designs, the blue wren with a Celtic knot border. Of course, it took much longer to complete than I thought it would, but I really enjoyed doing embroidery. Although my technique was not perfect, I’m happy with the outcome and learned lots completing it.
Next few pieces will be for Christmas presents, so I’ll show them after Christmas!
This has some reflections on the photo as I covered it with plastic so it could be used as a placemat. I used two round wooden placemats glued together and sewed the plastic on with a blanket stitch. Next time I will take more care with making the stitches even, but overall, I am happy with how it came together.
The design is embroidered on calico. I used inktense pencils to colour the centre blue. It was embroidered with DMC wool thread.
Just completed another short Australian animation cartoon. This time I used Procreate and VN Video Editor, all on my iPad Pro. As Procreate has a limited number of layers, each character’s animation is done separately and then I import it into the video editor. Previously I used Callipeg, but I found this workflow easier and happier with the outcome.

I am proud to announce that I have listed my revised adult colouring pages in my Etsy Store. They are available as either an instant digital download or as prints on 200gsm uncoated paper that are suitable for watercolours. If you purchase the instant PDF download, I recommend having them printed on a laser printer as inkjet ink will bleed. Officeworks or your local printer will print them for you. Officeworks charges under 30 cents a page and you can order them online to collect in store or have them posted to you.
To see how these sheets hold up to watercolour pencils, you can watch my video tutorial on colouring with watercolour pencils and Prismacolour pencils. I was very happy with the quality of the pages. As they are professionally printed, the ink does not bleed at all when the page is wet to blend the watercolour pencils.
If you enjoyed the video, please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
I will be uploading more pages and videos, so subscribe here to keep in the loop!
In the example above, I used Inktense pencils, Faber Castell Watercolour pencils and Prismacolour pencils. The Inktense pencils lay down a vibrant base layer, and then you can shade lightly on top of the base layers with your colour pencils, or put down more watercolour layers.
This mandala design is surrounded by a circular Celtic knot. I found the repeating patterns make colouring this design meditative and relaxing. I hope you will enjoy colouring it too!
Please check out my new Adult Colouring pages listed in my Etsy store and feel free to ask any questions you may have. Hopefully my video tutorial on adult colouring will provide you with some colouring tips and ideas.
This whimsical dolphin mandala with Celtic knots is a revision of an earlier colouring page that was published in my original Celtic knots Adult Colouring Book.
Revising this adult colouring page was fun to do. It was a perfect Autumn day so I went to the local park near the Dolphin Discovery Centre. Surrounded by families enjoying the waterfront park gave me all the inspiration I needed to give this colouring page a sense of fun.
The border is a modern take on a traditional circular Celtic Knot design. It is decorated with paisley-like fish, funky waves and the sun.
Now to move onto the next adult colouring page for my up-coming adult colouring book.
I have finished the revision of one of my favourite Celtic designs for my next Adult Colouring Book. The main dragon design is an adaptation of one contained in the “Book of Kells”. The dragon has a body that is an intricate Celtic Knot design that is interlaced with baby snake-like dragons.
The Book of Kells is a beautiful illustrated Gospel book that is believed to have been created in 800 AD and is one of Ireland’s national treasures.
The Book of Kells contains illustrations of mythical creatures, animals, humans and Celtic knot designs. These intricate designs are still an inspiration for those of us that love creating Celtic Knot designs.
With this revision, I added some rendering and the cheeky little baby snake-like dragons for the borders. These dragons add some whimsy to the more traditional Celtic Knot design of the main circular dragon.
This Adult Colouring page will be used in my next Colouring book that will be printed on quality paper suitable for any serious colourist.
I am excited to announce that I am revising the colouring pages contained in my Celtic Knots and Mandala books to publish a new mega adult colouring book!
The new book will have spiral binding so the pages are easier to colour or remove. The colouring book will also have thicker, better quality paper than the paper Amazon uses and will be 11 by 8.5 inches,
This is my first revision of the Lion Celtic Knot drawing that is in “Celtic Knots, 30 Adult Colouring Pages” I think the revised lion will be more fun to colour. Let me know what you think!
IngramSpark will be printing and distributing the book online, but you will also be able to purchase the mega colouring book directly from me also.
This Easter Lily artwork is available on Redbubble products – prints, canvases, homewares and more gift items.
I have recently completed my first painting with Procreate on my IPad Pro. It is from a photo I took of a beautiful Easter Lily flower that I saw on my walk.
I have the 2020 iPad with the 2nd Generation pencil. The brushes I used were ink bleed and turpentine. It took me a while to find the brushes that behaved how I wanted. My focus on this was to use colours for the shadow work. These were completed on a seperate layer with the opacity reduced. Hope you like it!
Prints and products with this artwork are available from my Redbubble Store. For a print or products with the background follow this link, or with no background.
