This 18 inch mandala on mdf board weaves the goldfields’ red earth, sacred geometry, and folk art. Against a black backdrop, vibrant gold and earthy tones evoke regal opulence and sun-kissed landscapes. Plaster embellishments and paint mediums add texture and depth. The central design draws inspiration from the Cathedral of Carlisle’s paneling, as depicted in “Illustrations of Geometric Tracery” by R W Billings, London, 1842. This is encircled by classical decorative scrolls and modern dot-painting patterns. Seamlessly blending historical influence with contemporary art, this piece crafts a narrative delicately connecting to the earth and its treasures.
I am an artist from Australind, Western Australia. I transitioned from self-publishing seven adult colouring books to creating mandala wall art with acrylic paints in November 2023. My aim is to evoke serenity through her art, inspired by traditional folk and decorative motifs from diverse cultures.
